When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. The results of most standard tests will usually be available within 7 days but more specialised tests may be longer.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary telephone follow-up with the doctor or nurse who requested the test.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality in line with Data Protection laws. Enquiries about test results on behalf of another person cannot be accepted except in certain circumstances eg. your children under 12, or where there is pre obtained consent from the patient, or a guardianship/power of attorney order in place.
Tests that are arranged by a consultant at a hospital clinic will not automatically be sent to your GP. This result goes to the consultant that requested the test or performed the test. In these circumstances you will need to wait for the consultant to write a letter to you / your GP with the results which may take several weeks. You may be able to make enquiries of the hospital consultant's secretary directly if you feel you have waited longer than expected.
